Join LVRP for a relaxed walk to enjoy and learn about the varied birdlife of the River Lagan with Sorrel from the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) NI. Together we’ll develop our skills in identifying the birds we encounter and chat about how we can monitor these birds using the simple methodology of the Wetland Bird Survey. Whether you’re new to birdwatching or more experienced, come along to learn from others and share your knowledge.
Meet at the Barge on the Lagan by the Lock Keeper's Inn at 2pm

More information:
The aim of this event is to learn and practice identification of the wetland birds that use the River Lagan, together in a friendly group and low-pressure atmosphere, and learn about how to put these skills to use in the Wetland Bird Survey. We’ll encourage people to learn from each other by working together to identify birds, sharing knowledge, and asking questions. So, whether you’ve never picked up a pair of binoculars before or you’re a regular birdwatcher, we’d love to have you along.
Tea and coffee will be provided as we introduce bird identification in the Barge, before taking a slow walk down the river to spot birds. There will be binoculars to borrow for those that don’t have them.
BTO is a charity that focuses on understanding birds, and in particular, how and why bird populations are changing. We harness the skills and passion of birdwatchers to advance our understanding of ornithology and produce impartial science - communicated clearly for the benefit of birds and people.
By signing up to this event, you are consenting to being contacted by staff from BTO NI about this event and follow-up opportunities.
